mgv2_78 | Ubu | 10_14: Submission Guidelines

Totem 10: Gates of Desire by James Mahan
Official mgv2_78 front cover

mgversion2>datura is now open to poem, fiction, non-fiction, and of course play submissions for mgv2_78 | Ubu | 10_14.

I guess the theme might be a bit obscure for some English-speaking readers/contributors. So please, read about Alfred Jarry's play King Ubu and Ubu Cuckolded. Inform yourself about "pataphysics": the science beyond metaphysics, of imaginary solutions, the theatre of the Absurd, Surrealism.

The wikipedia article is quite reliable for once http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubu_Roi

Submissions must be sent as a doc, rtf or txt attachment. You can send up to 5 poems/short-fiction and 2 stories/non-fiction. No limits set but try to keep your word-count reasonable. If sending a play (excerpt) it must be exceptional and totally related to the theme.

Title your submissions with lastname_firstname_title_issuenb, put this into your email header too.

As usual, simultaneous submissions are encouraged, and previously published work is accepted as long as the publishing background is clearly stated.

Send a short biographical note (5 lines maximum). No author's photograph needed.

The deadline is August 31. Send all submissions to mgversion2datura [at] gmail [dot] com

Send in. Don't be shy or scared. I don't want you too. I want satire, absurd, riot, revolution, trauma, ubuesque work.

Remember that I am now reading submissions on a rolling basis. The two next themes will be
mgv2_79 | Viral | 01_14: When words and images spread like an unstoppable bug. Deadline October 31.
mgv2_80 | I'm on Fire | 04_14: Do I need to specify this theme? Deadline February 28.

Remember also that Beakful is always looking for your work. The daily feed of poetry, fiction, non-fiction. An extension to mgversion2>datura. Send 1-2 poems, 1 fiction/non-fiction to mgversion2datura [@] gmail [dot] com with lastname_firstname_title_beakful in the header, and as a title for your attachment: doc, rtf, or txt.
